The Art of Understanding Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a research-based guide book about traditional Chinese medicine’s philosophy - “Holistic Health” under the concept of “internal to external”. This book offers the absolute basic knowledge of how traditional Chinese medicine sees sicknesses and treats them through the illustrations. The goal of this book is to clarify the mysteriousness towards traditional Chinese medicine, allowing the reader a chance to get to reflect on their daily routine of how “inside” organs can reflect right back to external sicknesses.

During my research, I began to question the existence of TCM in Thailand and found that there are a good amount of people who is knowledgable and practices TCM. From an online survey and analysis, It shows the results of people who aren’t willing to try TCM due to its mysterious look and sense of unreliability. To solve these problems, I decided to contact the doctors inside Hua Chiew and began co-working with them. (Hua Chiew TCM clinic officially opened in 1995, they have quality and safely manufactured TCM herbs and Acupuncture

Supported by the Ministry of health in Thailand). The concept is based on how TCM sees illness. TCM believes that any illness or pain on the external surface is the result of unwellness of the internal organs.

Hence, the objective and purpose of this publication are to communicate the philosophy of TCM  to target audiences and to let them know how TCM can help with everyday health that is common among them. Furthermore, the aims of this publication are

  • to introduce TCM’s philosophy - Holistic Healthiness,

  • to clarify how TCM works which will resolve the mysteriousness of TCM,

  • to encourage the user to see how TCM can benefit their daily routine and maintain their healthiness,

  • to show the reliability of TCM by working with Hua Chiew TCM doctors,

  • to give a clearer picture to target audiences how TCM treatments are different and less intrusive from modern medicine.
