Pile is a series of crafted objects that aims to raise the public’s awareness on overlooked wastes from over consumption through daily routine activities.

A pile of... take a look around your house, what do you see? A pile of old shoe boxes, or maybe a bunch of used shopping bags wedged in between the closet. This reflects our over consuming behavior. So I created Pile, by using gathered materials to recreate where it initially came from or the reason it was made. Pile consists of four different sections, all linked to our daily activities or occurrences, this includes food and short lived product packagings, clothings, and electronic devices.

Recreating a new surface visual to reflect mass consumption, mass production, and how we’re harming the environment. The recreated uniform is based off of the uniform commonly worn by industrial labour workers, the product packaging is regularly found in supermarkets and convenience stores, food wrappings, gadgets and devices that we encounter on a daily basis.

This project doesn’t suggest, and is not, a cure to this ongoing environmental disaster, but to make people acknowledge an overlooked factor that contributes to the bigger issue. To those who have seen this project, they could possibly be the ones who could make a difference in the future if they had the opportunity to do so, leading them to an alternative sustainable solution to the environment.
