Children's experiences formulate the values, attitudes, and the core beliefs that they will carry throughout their lives. Nature fosters their intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. However, children today spend less time outdoors than any other generation. With growing urbanization, the culture of childhood that plays outside is gone, and children's everyday life has shifted to the indoors. As a result, direct and spontaneous contact with nature is a vanishing experience of children today.
Out & About is a Nature Explorer Kit that assists children from 4 to 8 engage and interact with nature through various exploration, plays and activities. This project aims to be a way of reconnecting children back to nature by encouraging them to go outdoor and have enjoyable experiences with nature. The kit includes Exploration Tools, Creative Play Set, Activity Cards and Companion Booklet.
The “Accordion Tool” to examine leaves and flowers when light shines through. Children will see the details, colour, and shapes of each organism with a brand new perspective. Different shapes and sizes of each hole are designed to match the various characteristic of leaves and flowers. It is also for children to focus on things they are exploring.
“Magnifying Glass” makes things appear bigger to allow children to use this tool to view nature up close. It is a great tool to help children explore nature!
The wooden blocks are designed to set out free play and interact with nature. The holes on these whimsical blocks are in abstract shapes based on organic forms of nature!
A deck of 28 illustrated steel plate cards with magnetic facial features that will set children out to explore and look around for natural items to make Mr. & Miss Nature Creatures.
An illustrated deck of cards describes 21 games, activities and plays for children to enjoy with nature. These activities are just right for a group of children playing together in the backyard, parks or in the woodland.
This is a booklet for children to grow their thoughts, feelings, ideas, observations and experiences with nature. They can draw, paint, write, or stick leaves and other natural treasures. The option are endless! The book includes space for children to record natural discovery and also space to reflect the time they spend in nature.
